19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been achieved on hardcourt
A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his initial title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.
Medvedev, a former number one, has experienced a challenging period, managing just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.
His inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and issues with his service game in particular - led to him dropping out of the elite rankings and ultimately splitting with long-time coach Gilles Cervara.
Now working with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over challenger Moutet.
This represents his first title following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hardcourt from spring of 2023.
The win also signifies Medvedev has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my both daughters together, so to get a title is really nice," stated ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my younger daughter her name, because the initial championship I got when my child her name was delivered was for her."
The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his past six finals, including in that event previously this season.
Medvedev's counter-punching strategy and frequent reactions on the playing surface had prompted observers to question if his ability to play at the elite level was finished.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, supported by an improved serve.
Medvedev recovered from a disadvantage in the initial set against the challenging opponent, winning four of the concluding five points to gain the advantage.
Both players exchanged service breaks in the second set before the Frenchman, attempting for his first professional title, seized the initiative to push for a final set.
Moutet saved four initial break points in a close deciding set before the champion broke to fifteen to close out the victory.
Appropriately, the winner earned the title with a point at the net, with the Frenchman unable to manage a return after a lengthy match.
